The DC-motor Precision Linear Actuator
products began at Newport Corporation in 1977-1978. Our founder and current
president created the 1000-series Linear Actuator and its controllers as
an employee of Newport and manager of the Industrial Systems Division. In
1979, he formed TS Products to manufacture those products exclusively for
Newport. For five years, all the Linear Actuators and Controllers found
in the Newport Catalog were manufactured by TS Products.
- 1981 . . . 1200-series was created. It was an instant hit and is found in complex systems where an operator provides position feedback.
- 1982 . . . 1100-series arrived. This acutator combined the closed-loop feedback of the 1000-series with the short package length of the 1200-series.
- 1984 . . . Became independent of Newport and created many improvements to the basic actuator products. We began to develop our own customer base and delivered actuators through-out the world. Our principal customers were aerospace, semiconductor manufacturers, medical research, and optical research.
- 1995 . . . we introduced the 2000-family of step-motor actuators.
- 1997 . . . 2200-series actuator was used in a 300-actuator control system for 100 submirrors comprising the primary mirror for the McDonald Observatory's Hobby-Eberly Telescope in Texas.
- 1999 . . . Introduced major actuator improvements that include higher performance low-friction Drive Screws/Nose Mountings and low wobble/runout of the Nose Button.
- 2001 . . . Absorbed by Diamond Motion, Inc., located in Northwestern Washington, near Seattle.
Over our 29 years of being in business, we have made steady technical improvements
and taken possession of a greater share of the precision linear actuator
marketplace. Almost no industry exists that hasn't seen a need for our Linear
Actuators. Today, compared to our competition, our actuators provide high
performce at a cost-effective price. We are proud of the attention that
we give our customers and have a large family of satisfied customers. Our
primary method of sales promotion has always been repeat sales and word-of-mouth
advertising.
