The 1400-Series Rotary Actuator is a fractional-horsepower DC servo motor with an integral position encoder. It provides smooth, quiet, variable-speed, rotary motion with low acoustic and mechanical noise. The 1400 has four motor options, each with a magnitude of gear reduction ratios. The actuator's output shaft is intended to be directly coupled to external mechanisms, such as drivescrews, cams and pulleys. Its velocity servo electronics, an integral part of the actuator package, assure that changing load conditions will not affect velocity, cause motor burnout, or change the shape of the encoder signal. In addition, the servo electronics sense motor stalls and end-of-limits to prevent mechanical binding.
The 1400-Series Rotary Actuators can be combined with the 1000-series controllers in a wide range of applications, such as rotating loads or motorizing drivescrew-driven stages. Systems range from manual speed and direction control of a single actuator to sophisticated computer control of up to six actuators.
Computer control is available through the CONTROL 3 Digital Controller. The 1000M Modular Controller offers less sophisticated manual control for one to three actuators. Stand alone joystick control is available in the 1000J Joystick and the 1000JC Joystick with Computer Interface.
In addition, the new MVP-2001 DC Motor Controller is available for computer controlled motion with software programmability of the 1400-series Rotary actuators.
